How to make a classic cocktail inspired by the Big Easy
A drink dreamt up by Andy Whitehead of @liqourary, the du Monde evokes the rich spirit of New Orleans through a decadent combination of bourbon, cognac, bitters, and a splash of Alpine liqueur. Think of it as the livelier cousin to the infamous Viex Carré. In other words … one and done.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 ounces of 1792 Bourbon (Small Batch works well)
- ¾ oz. cognac
- ¾ oz. sweet vermouth
- ¼ oz. génépy
- 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
- Lemon and orange peels for garnish
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice
- Stir and strain over a single large ice cube in a rocks glass
- Garnish with lemon and orange peels
