Home Bar Refresh: Stirrers & Shakers

by Scott Wagner

Easy updates for under $50

A good shake and a solid stir are key when it comes to mixing up a good drink. And that’s why in this week’s installment of home bar refreshes for under $50, we’re focusing on cocktail spoons and shakers. They might be small, but these two tools are nothing short of necessary when it comes time to make a professional grade Manhattan or Boulevardier.

Find our stylish selects of said necessities below, all of which pair perfectly with the glassware upgrades we shared last week. Peruse what we found and, if you’ve got the time, snap a few pics of your own home bar setup and share them with us on Instagram—simply tag us @1792bourbon and use the hashtag #yes1792 for a chance to be featured on our feed.

Margot Cocktail Shaker, $39.50, available at potterybarn.com

Copper is cool again and don’t let anybody tell you it doesn’t look good next to silver or brass. What we’re saying is, mix up the metals on your bartop like you mix up your favorite cocktail—with conviction.

Vintage Cocktail Shaker, $36, available at etsy.com

Vintage barware adds character and class to any setup. Spend some time scouring Etsy for deals on well-made pieces priced at a fraction of the cost you’d spend on something similar and new.

This nifty shaker has cocktail recipes engraved right on the sides. Simply twist till you find what you’re in the mood for and get to it.

Rabbit Swirling Bar Spoon, $14.95, available at williamssonoma.com

A stirring spoon on one end and a fork on the other. It’s two tools in one and just the right length to stab that last maraschino cherry at the bottom of the jar.
