Summer Ideas to Dress Your Best

Three Never Fail, No Sweat Looks

We’ve given you one solid look to take you through summer, but for those of you craving some variety when it comes to your daily ‘fits, we went ahead and pulled together three more. Below, check out three never fail get ups ideal for summer, which we’re calling “Dressed Up”, “Dressed Down,” and “Around Town.”

Dressed Up

Whether it’s for a Zoom call where all eyes are on you or an important meetup IRL, you need a look that’s a little more dressed up than your everyday. A crisp cotton shirt, fresh chinos with a waist that sits just right, and suede loafers (sans socks) is a stylish ensemble that’ll take you most anywhere.

The Shirt

Bold, yet understated, bengal stripes make for an eye-catching shirt and keep your overall look visibly tailored, even with the sleeves rolled up. Thomas Pink is one of the best in the game for any shirt, and this season they’ve aced the wider stripe with great panache. Bengal Wide Stripe Poplin Button Cuff Shirt, Thomas Pink, $185

The Pants

A pair of chinos that’s positively continental. Done in a shade that’s perfect for summer, this white pair is luxurious looking and soft to the touch. Pair them with a navy linen blazer for extra points. Italian Stretch Chinos, Bonobos, $108

The Shoes

These European style loafers look as good with socks that show as they do with those that don’t. The brown hue contrasts sharply with lighter shades like white and is as well suited to both summer and fall. Suede Penny Loafer, 3DM Lifestyle, $155

Dressed Down

Solo time at home, a casual BBQ, or a day on the dock…we all need a no frills look that shows we still care. The solution? T-shirt, shorts, sandals. Done.

The Shirt

A classic crewneck for a fair price can’t be beat, and this style from Bombas is just that. Breathable cotton keeps sweat in check and the olive green color is a versatile departure from run-of-the-mill white. Pima Cotton Crewneck, Bombas, $36

The Shorts

A trim short in a shorter length is the way to go come July and August. And the color? Navy never goes out of style and, with time, will fade to casual perfection, resulting in a specific shade that no one else has. Chino Shorts, JCrew, $65

The Shoes

Birkenstocks. Well-made, non-precocious footwear that could, quite literally, last you a lifetime. Arizona Sandals, Birkenstock, $125

Around Town

A potential date, your buttoned-up boss, your mother in-law…you never know who you’re going to run into while running errands around town. This is why (in addition to dressing for your best self) it’s important to have a grab-and-wear look that’s polished, breezy, and easy to put on in three minutes flat.

The Shirt

A contemporary take on the trusty polo, this white knit from Reiss has just the right amount of graphic detail to make you stylishly stand out from the crowd. Wear it with pants to the grocery, then switch to shorts for an evening on the courts. Knit Polo, Reiss, $70

The Pants

Drawstring pants are your new best friend. They feel like pajamas, but look sharp enough for work and wear well with just about anything. This pair from Everlane are made using lightweight cotton poplin and a hint of elastane for added stretch. Pull ‘em on and be prepared to never want to take them off. Air Chino Drawstring Pants, Everlane, $58

The Shoes

CAPTION: A good pair of white sneakers will take you far. Perfect for those days when you never quite know where you’ll end up, lace ’em up with black trousers and a white polo for a minimal look packed with taste. Leather Sneaker, Club Monaco, $98.50
